    The original masterpiece was created in 1886. After the death of Camille, Monet's favourite model, he took an interest in painting Suzanne Hoschede, the daughter of his friends Ernest and Alice. Her face deliberately appears blurred in this painting because Monet intended the viewer to see her as part of the landscape not as a personality. Today it has been carefully recreated detail-by-detail, color-by-color to near perfection. While Monet successfully captured life's reality in many of his works, his aim was to analyze the ever-changing nature of color and light.
