    La Chateau des Pyrenees is a wonderful oil painting with exceptional use of color, detail and brush strokes. The original was done in 1959 by Rene Magritte. Today it has been carefully recreated detail-by-detail color-by-color to near perfection. Margritte was born in the industrial city of Charleroi, Belgium and started painting at the age of 20. Much of his surrealistic art has a tendency to be erotic or shocking with several theories of reason. Perhaps it was from the times he spent as a child playing with a little girl in the underground vaults of an abandoned cemetery, the fact he was born a Sagittarius, or from the affects of his mother's death when he was 14 years old. Regardless of the reason Rene Magritte is one of the most popular artists in the world today.
