The lacquerware from this region is well known to interior designers worldwide, and is acclaimed for some of the globe's finest craftsmanship techniques. Lacquerware is created by applying the black resin of the "Lak" tree onto smoothly carved wood to give it a fine finish. Each piece receives a seven-layer coat of lacquer to ensure a high standard of quality and undergoes a two-month drying process to achieve a rich luster. Natural color pigments are used in the hand-painted designs. Measures 10 inches wide x 15 inches long x 1 inch high.
