Goodlooking fan!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this for a new home to 'fit' in with a range of styles. The wood look to the fan gives the fan cohesion with my wood floors & beams which are stained dark like the floors. The propeller look is modern, but fits in beautifully with the rest of my light fixtures - some of which are much more ornate. The fan itself is a dream of quiet soft air movement to a whirl wind if that's what you want to crank it up to. Perfect size for a small 10' X 14' living space. I have a 9' ceiling with beams which we hung this from. It also helps circulate the air from my wood burner which helps keep my new home warm!

Perfect Fan
I am not a fan enthusiast. Now that I live in high humidity area, I considered them a necessary evil. But MinkaAaire fans have changed my thinking. These fans are not your Grandmother's fans with the big housing, and big unattractive blades & lights that whir & tick so you can't sleep. I just purchased the Distress Koa 52" with a "knotted wood" center. Understated, elegant. It looks better than the catalog picture. As for performance - so quiet you will not know it is on and the 3 slim blades move the air nicely in this small space. I keep it on all year, usually in reverse. I will be buying another model soon.

Great fan!
I bought 2 of these fans for the main level of my house. It goes with both the formal living room and also the casual family room. Even though it moves a lot of air, it is compact and does not overpower either room.

Beautiful. Functional.
Using it in a treatment room, 10'3" x 14'10" with 10'3" ceilings. I initially got the 18" extension, but don't need it, the fan works well in the space with the rod it came with. It's beautiful, which is important as the ceiling is what people see in a treatment room. It's very quiet, at least on speeds 1 and 2. I only use 1 when in session, just to circulate air, which has helped tremendously! The "distressed koa" is indeed plastic, but actually looks fantastic, and I'm pretty picky.

Average performance from a good looking fan.
Bought this fan about 2 yrs ago. Beautiful looks and design. But gives a hum at medium and fast speeds and that is irritating in the room as well as the bed room just above. Air displacement also is not the greatest. I had a 52 inch Hunter fan at the same place for about 20 yrs, and was doing an excellent job with air displacement and no hum at all. I gave 3 stars just for looks. If you are noise sensitive like me, you may want to think twice before buying this fan.

Functional and cool design
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I must say that I absolutely hate the way fans Don't adorn a room. This particular has made me rethink my bias toward fans. I purchased this fan in the silver for a master bedroom and can't tell you how much the fan not only adorns the room but it is a statement piece. Design aside, functionality speaking, it is quiet and moves air to cool in the summer and to reverse to move air in the winter. LOVE MinkaAire!

I read the reviews before buying, but decided to buy two - one for my greenroom and one for my master bedroom. I was a little worried about a few comments that mentioned the blades looking/being plastic. Both of my fans are up now, and they are true to most of the reviews - beautiful. The blades are not wood, but you would never know it. In fact my good friend who is in design asked me last night what kind of wood it was. Very happy with this purchase!!

Is your Minka Aire Wave #855178 appropriate to cool 16'X16' LR with adjacent 14'X12' DR? One customer commented this fan was not quiet! We must have a quiet fan! Is there any problem with Electrician's Union refusing to installing this fan? J. O'Marah
Our fan is several years old snd is still very quiet:silent, it moves the air in our living room well. As for cooling snd electricians unions that’s out of my league.
