Using warm earth colors, Parinya Nanjai creates an exquisite composition in the traditional style of Myanmar. Buddha sits in a temple, meditating. The dream-like atmosphere is heightened with by the full moon that illuminates the master. Nanjai uses handcrafted saa (mulberry) paper for the background, made to resemble an ancient palm leaf book, and adds details with gold leaf, hemp thread and glass spangles. It arrives in a pinewood frame.
About the Artist: Thai artisan Parinya Nanjai says about his art: ‘We can essentially learn about art on our own, through everything that surrounds us -- nature, culture, everything. A few years of art in the technical school taught me to love painting and I know this to be my vocation. I prefer the northern Thai style because I was born here; it‘s always in my way of thinking and in my heart. I paint from my own thoughts, and the Lanna style is always on my mind.‘
