Dionisio Rojas shares the customs of the Andes with an expressive ceramic composition. The detailed scene takes place at a house in a vineyard, where a woman lies on the floor when she is about to give birth. She is accompanied by the midwife and the other women of the household, while the men are in charge of bringing water and towels.
About the Artist: Andean artisan Dionisio Rojas comes from the mountains of southern Peru. He has worked since the age of ten with his cousins, who are also ceramics artists, and his aunt who had an art store in his hometown. Rojas sold his ceramic artwork locally as a teenager and won art contests at local, state, and national levels as his skills progressed. Alongside his lovely wife, he fully dedicates himself to his ceramic artwork, in particular churches, lamps, animals, and musicians.
