A curious lamb moves close to Mary as she holds her newborn baby on her lap. Joseph hovers near them in an attitude of love and protection. Kneeling to adore little Jesus, an angel folds her hands in prayer while the Christmas star shines above them. Gabriel Ayala expertly carves cedar wood in low relief and paints the scene in delicate color. Applications of bronze leaf adorn the panel.
About the Artist: When I was very young, I especially liked the world of art. I admired and respected it very much. I‘d describe my art as meaning everything to me. I like to admire the fine workmanship and perfect finishing that keep me striving harder each day. At first, I was motivated by financial necessity but today I am fueled by the desire to make this wonderful art known. I try to transmit a love of my work and the ability of the people in the Peruvian Andes. For me, art is a way of life, and I consider ‘art‘ to be anything done with love and patience. I bring my works to life with dedication and devotion."
