Riveting geometric design explodes into a bold graphic style on this graceful vase. The stepped frets and intricate checkerboard motifs distinguish this splendid recreation of Inca ceramics. Gerardo Huaman crafts each piece by hand, meticulously emulating not only the style but also the spirit of ancient peoples.
About the Artist: The Huaman Paucar Family from Peru is proud heir to an artistic family legacy: 'Our family's journey in the ceramic arts has been influenced by the customs and lifestyles of my village, a village of ceramic artisans. We dress our jars and decorative plates in beautiful designs from ancient Peru. Each carries the powerful, elemental mystery of water and earth. In our home-based workshop we also teach other ceramists in our tradition, and many have stayed to work with us.'
The Huaman Paucar Family Artisan Collection is brought to you by Novica in Association with National Geographic. This beautiful piece was handcrafted by Huaman Paucar Family in Peru. An artisan story card will be included with your purchase.
