I thought I would buy a higher quality light from Balcor paying about twice what I paid for original lights at Home Depot. 6 inches taller but very similar quality as Home Depot .

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Post snapped off twice. I bought this streetlight to replace one that snapped off after 10 years use. However, within a month of installing it, the new one snapped off at the same place. It seems like the milled aluminum post may not be strong enough to support the three lights on top.

Does this need to be hard wired? How is it attached to the ground securely?

Yes, this Post Light has to be hardwired. And the base has to be secured by the J bolts with the ground. Please contact our Customer Care Department for the installation instructions and owner's manual.
