What are the dimensions between the bottom of the top and the shelf? Also from shelf to bottom shelf? I would like to set baskets on the shelves.

The distance is about 9 3/4" inch between the top metal shelf and the drawers, and about 11 3/4" inch between the two metal shelves.

can you get the top of the cart wet or can you cut on the top of the cart?

It is recommended to use a cutting board on top of the counter top and not to put anything wet on the countertop to preserve the wood.
