So many of us have 8' ceilings which makes this a marginal choice. Is it possible to cut the down rod from 12" to perhaps 6"? Or is it possible to just hang the fixture from the cord that runs through the rod and dispense with the rod altogether?

I saw the minimum height from ceiling to bottom of the light is 21 inches with 1 rod. I also saw that for sloped ceilings, to call your customer service as you have an adapter for a sloped ceiling. Will the adapter add to the 21 inch minimum?

I am also trying to determine the total minimum height of this drum pendant (from the ceiling to the bottom of the drum). I didn't see those listed in the resource tab. Can you respond here?
With just using 1 rod (there are two) that is used to hang the fixture the total minimum height from the ceiling to the bottom of the drum is 21".

If we do not have a ceiling junction box to install this, is there a way to add some type of 'adapter' to then run a cord along the ceiling and wall to the closest electrical outlet?
