Will this light cover a 44w by 36h picture?
Our light does cover that, As with all over the picture mounted lights, the light will be much stronger at the top middle of their art and gradually get lower towards the edges and the bottom. As with all such picture lights, the light does have a fairly even horizontal “throw”, but dimities more markedly as you go down the picture.

Will this adequately cover a 48w by 36h painting?
No. I use it for a portrait approximately 30"×36" and it does a barely adequate job.
