Would it be possible to drop this light lower from the ceiling?  Is there a practical way to alter the drop measurement?

There is no need to alter the drop measurement. This Forest Light Washed Lucerne Gold and Natural 10-Light does come as a Chandelier. Please refer our Bellacor Number: 1760580 for a chandelier version.
