Some outdoor lights chip. I need to order several lights and I don't want that to happen again. What should I look for in terms of outside coating?

For outdoor wall light or post light, make sure it's UL Wet Location listed. Also, your can choose weather-resistant metals like powder-coated aluminium and brass, one of the most durable outdoor metals so that it can stand up to water and moisture and it doesn't corrode.
