Quiet, moves air well, 6 speeds!
We’ve installed two of these models, one has been running continuously for almost two years. The fans are quiet, even at high speeds. Hint: Reverse direction for summer and winter while fan is moving at level one speed. Having six speeds is a luxury to fine-tune air movement. There is a hardwired wall controller and a battery-operated portable that comes with a holster to attach to the wall. I’ve hung the portable’s holster conveniently by my bed and installed the hardwired one by our bedroom entry. Both controllers are fully-functional: on/off, reverse direction, 6 speeds.
I plan to buy our third for a guest bedroom.

Perfect!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These fans are perfect for our outdoor lanai. The amount of air they move is exactly what we need and were looking for. They are quiet and I can't say enough about them. We had a hard time getting fans to move the right amount of air, stay quiet and not wobble. These turned out to be the ones that moved the right amount of air, are quiet and do not wobble! We actually purchased, installed and returned 2 other brands of fans to our local big box store as neither provided what we needed. We are so happy we didn't settle until we found the right product.

Bad converter
I bought one of these from a local supplier. The good, when it didn’t work properly I called Minka and they promptly answered the phone. I described the spastic actions of the fan and asked for trouble shooting tips. They said it sounded like I had a bad controller and to return it. I did and exchanged it for an a/c unit vs this dc unit. New one installed much easier and worked well. The ac to dc converter fits in a small space in the ceiling canopy making the unit very difficult to wire and install. Loved the concept, but didn’t want to do a second difficult install and take a risk on another bad unit.

Can't install to with proper practices...
The receiver for the remote is too big for the ceiling bracket provided and as a result there is no way to make the electrical connections and position the wires back up in the ceiling box. There is no wiggle room for the supply connections and the wires feeding to the fan motor which come up into the bracket out of the down-rod - everything has to be left to be smashed up into place under canopy which is terrible practice. Horrible design. I've installed fans 1/2 the price of this that were much more intelligently designed. Stay away.

Beautiful Fan but a few installation issues
Minimalist design but in rubbed bronze is a nice balance of elegance without being ultra modern (that I imagine chrome or silver would be). But if you want ultra modern, it'll be beautiful. I have to echo one of the negative reviews that said there's a lot of wire jammed into the canopy cover once the remote receiver is in. It's difficult, but not insurmountable.
I started the fan at speed 3 out of 6 and there's good air flow. 6 is very good and still very quiet.
I had some problems changing the downrod, but mainly because I'm technologically challenged. You really have to yank the coupling cover really hard to reveal the set screws and lock pin. Manual was badly organized with a few pages in Spanish in the English version and vice versa.
Bottom line, very happy.

Super Quiet
I purchased this to replace a different MinkaAire fan that for some reason made a continual gawdawful humming noise. Fortunately, Build returned that one with no issue and I replaced it with this one. I'm very happy, while simple in looks, it's quiet and puts out a great deal of air if needed, but we mostly keep it on the 3 setting and that's enough. It's a DC fan so I understand that's energy efficient.

Fans have rusted on a covered porch in less than 1 year
Do not buy these fans if you want to place them outside under a covered porch. All 4 fans purchased and installed in early 2021 have rusted badly. They are under a wide covered porch and protected from the elements. The style of these is great but clearly only for use indoors. Want to save someone else from making the same expensive mistake.

Quiet and cool
I would highly recommend this fan. It is very well made and, as the name suggests, has a simple but elegant design. As important is the fan's performance: it's whisper quiet and moves a lot of air. I researched hundreds of fans and settled on this one after a lot of comparison shopping. I'm 100% happy with my purchase.

Hello, This fan comes with a handheld remote. There is a wall control available as well if you would like to purchase as well. I use both the wall control for when I walk into a room and have the handheld once I have sat in my chair so I don't have to get up if I want to change fan speed or dimming of the light. THX

No, it cannot be used separate.

Can this fan be mounted as a "hugger" type or do we need to use the stem?
The fan included two lengths of downrods. I used the shorter of the two, and it was enough to keep the motor as close to the ceiling as possible. But no I don't think you can flush mount this fan.
