Does this have a diffuser at the bottom?
Yes, there is a glass diffuser on the bottom to cover the bulbs. We have added assembly instruction under the resources tab of the product page for your reference.

Can this light be used on an island with cook top ? I’m not a huge cook but concerned about the shade?
This fixture would be Damp rated, so this can be used in an indoor kitchen. If this is being used outdoors, the area must be fully enclosed, or the customer would need to look into a Wet rated fixture.
