Thanks for reaching out to us. The product materials are Resin, Fossil Stone Veneer. Yes, it needs to be assembled as it comes knocked down, but there is not a lot of assembly required.

How large is the actual chess board square to square

when it says Resin Components, does that mean this is not real wood ?, if only part of the table is real wood what parts are not?

This Game Table is made of solid wood. Only some clear lite casting resin is used on the top of the table to give a clear and shiny finish.
