Unfinished, Splinters Waiting to Happen
In Dec I bought this bench because the price was right and its features were exactly what I wanted. I learn you get what you pay for. The description says it's oak, but it is really acacia. The wood is soft, cheap and unfinished. Besides splinters, it is in no condition to be used outdoors, exposed to the elements. I had to spend time and effort to sand and seal it before assembling it. Upon working on it, I saw that holes in the wood were patched haphazardly with fillers, with no regard for esthetic or quality. If I didn't like the features of the bench this much, I would have returned it.
