Can this mailbox be used as an insert for a brick column?  Can the flag assembly be removed?

Yes. I had a free standing brick mailbox holder built for my box to fit into. The brick masons did the whole job so the mailbox is custom fit in the brick. Afterward, I simply attached the flag to the brick with 2 screws and all works well.

My mail box is fairly new, but the magnet closing device is not working properly. I tried to tighten the screw that fastens the magnet device at the top of the mail box, but the screw wouldn't turn even with quite a bit or torque. Help!
