Do not buy this
I wouldn't order one of these again even if it were free. It's much more difficult to put together than a piece of Ikea furniture and the instructions are dreadful. The wood can be as easily punctured as foam-core. I purchased two of these nightstands and weeks later still haven't put the second one together because it was such a nightmare.

Gorgeous Nightstand.
This nightstand is everything I was looking for and more. I’ve been looking for quite a while for something that would mostly match my bed frame and this was perfect. The color is gorgeous and it is so well made and excellent quality. I’m obsessed. Just enough space and storage without taking up too much room.

Not the best qualify, drawers are limited in space capacity
Started putting these together yesterday.
They are cute, but the material is obviously not very high quality (pieces arrived splintered and chipped). Also the drawers themselves are incredibly small and have a limited capacity.
They’ll do, but I’m disappointed.

They look great
They look great, but the drawers are not as deep as they look. I like the sides on the top so things don't fall off, but it does reduce the space you can use. They are also a little shorter than I would like compared to our bed.

Q & A
Is it possible to stain this item to a light walnut color and then apply a coat of polyurethane to protect from stains? I want it to match the rest of my furniture.
The factory finish isn't great, very thin, so I would say that with a light sanding it might be possible. Can't say for sure how well the wood would take up your new stain though. You could always do a test spot on the back.
I bought these in lieu of the West Elm Mid Century modern nightstands in acorn because of availability and price. The color is off and the quality is worlds apart.
I do like the style, but wish they were a little taller.
