More unusual planter materials include richly textured water hyacinth; the wicker-work like design makes a pleasing stand for decorative grasses. Antiqued metal planters and plant stands create a feeling of tradition within a room, and make excellent design additions to Old World-themed homes.

Ceramic planters are one of the more popular choices for indoor plants and outdoor gardens alike. Ceramic planters are glazed in vibrant, deep finishes that reinforce a floral motif. Other models develop texture with the addition of ceramic vines and leaves which are highlighted by the glazing.

Outdoor garden planters include large urns that display ornamental flowers in style.
