Could you please tell me where the height measurement is measured from? From what point to what point? Also, I'm assuming the width is measured at the widest point at the top of the cage?

Yes, the width is measured at the widest points at the top. And the height is measured from the bottom to the top of the first ring attached with the fixture.

Does this fixture have glass or is it open?? I need it to be open? Also, I have 9'3" ceiling and 8' x 7' foyer that leads to a hall? Is it too big?? I heard you take the width plus length of room to determine the diameter of the light you need.

This Foyer Pendant features an open top. Yes, this is of course a few inches wide light for 8' x 7' foyer. As a general rule of thumb, the diameter of your fixture in inches is just the sum of your foyer’s length and width in feet. The bottom of the fixture should be 7 feet from the finish floor for your ceiling height.
