The glass is thick and the whole fixture is enclosed keeping water out. My previous one was just an open glass casing. I much prefer the closed of this light. The seeded glass gives it such a nice look. I highly recommend this light to anyone looking for a simple yet elegant designed outdoor light. This has far exceeded my expectations in look and function.

It was easy & quick to install-- what took me longer was finding & testing out the perfect bulbs to match. (I'm not a good photographer, the fixture looks much better in person, trust me!) I will have to move our house # sign since the fixture itself is a whopping 18 inches of quality seed glass! I LOVE IT!
