Is the light fixture open, or is there glass between the frame and the lightbulbs?

Does the height of this fixture (41") include the chain that you hand it from?  If not what length of chain do you include with this fixture?  Do you think this fixture would be too large for a front porch that has a height of 9"7" ?  Is it dimmable?

41-inch height is not including the chain. This fixture comes supplied with 8-feet length chain & 144-inch length wire/cord. Lighting professionals generally agree that front and back porch lights work best when placed just above eye level, usually at between 65 and 67 inches above the ground or porch floor. Yes, it is dimmable.
