what is the difference between brushed and satin nickel

Satin nickel is a plating. Brushed nickel (real brushed nickel) uses a tool to put small abrasions on the metal, all going in the same direction. This brushing takes the natural shine off the metal, but not as much as the satin nickel finish. Both finishes hide water or dirt spots better than polished nickel or chrome.

Our 11' kitchen work/bar L-shaped island has 4 pendants, but the lighting does not provide good general or task lighting.  Do you recommend this mini pendant for better lighting?.Or larger?  Would the bulb tend to show from the work or seating area?

We put 4 of these over our 12 foot island with a dimmer switch and couldn’t be happier with them! They provide a transitional element between our traditional furnishings and modern remodel-classic and classy. The bulb is in no way offensive. They get the highest rating from us!
