Nice Lamp - Good Construction - NEED OPTION TO TURN OFF SWITCH ILLUMINATION
The swing arm lamp arrived in perfect condition and looks great on either side of our bed. The switch is easy to get to and allows for easy adjustment of brightness. I had to loosen the arms up a bit to get it to swing more freely. I would probably like the fixture a bit more if the light was more of a spot. It's primary use is reading and you don't need the whole bed lit up for that. Really, just a small area. If it had an adjustable spot, that would be really cool.
I've noticed a lot of posts about this lamp regarding the switches remaining illuminated when the fixture is off. This is particularly annoying for people that prefer to have their room dark at night (this includes me). The solution is to disconnect the black wire that leads to the switch. This can be done by unscrewing the wire nut that connects the black wire from the transformer to the black wire that leads to the switch. Put a small wire nut on each of the exposed ends.

Nice looking and nice to use
I bought 2 of these to go over an L-shaped couch where there's not enough space for a floor or table lamp. These work perfectly. They look great, move out of the way when you aren't using and they have a dimming feature.

We love our his and hers LED reading lights!
These Kovacs LED reading lights have it all:

+ dimming is infinely adjustable AND it remembers your last setting
+ light switch glows in the dark to double as a night light
+ produces no heat so that it is never too hot to touch
+ easy to remove the fixtures from the wall for painting later
We bought two: one for each side of our California king bed. We have plaster and lathe on the walls, so we had to purchase four 1/8"x2" toggle bolts to attach the base plates to the wall. Toggle bolts are also much sturdier than the screws provided. This may come in handy because someone could put a lot of weight on the read light boom by mistake.
Deciding there vertical and horizontal position on the wall was the hard part and the installation instruction offer no advice. So, here's my two cents:
1. The light comes with a 24" metal channel to hide the cord. Remove the mounting bracket from inside the base unit and place it on the wall so that it's bottom edge is 24" above the mattress OR just above the top of the bed board, whichever is higher. Using a pencil, draw a faint line on the wall along the bottom mounting bracket.
2. Use a plumb bob (a nail tied to the end a string) to draw a faint vertical line that aligns with the edge of your bed at the same height as the horizontal line you drew in step 1.
3. Remove the four screws at the edge of the base unit and take out the mounting bracket. Place the mounting bracket on the wall so that one of its lower corners is snug to the intersection of the vertical and horizontal pencil lines. Which corner is snug depends on which side of the bed you are on. You want the fixture to be located horizontally inside the frame of your mattress so that the cord is hidden by the metal channel provided.
4. Make the mounting bracket eye-ball level, then using a nail or scratch awl to punch holes in the wall inside the mounting bracket cutouts. The cutouts are L-shaped to make it easy to remove the fixtures from the wall later. You screw holes should be located at the top left of the L.
5. Drill pilot holes in the wall for either the plastic bolt holders provided OR, in my case, 3/8" holes for toggle bolts. The holes for toggle bolts are much larger than the bolt head, so you need to be careful about not losing the bolt in the hole after it is inserted.
6. Secure the mounting bracket to the wall with the screws provided OR toggle bolts. The larger toggle bolt holes provide some play so that you can adjust the level of the bracket before tightening them all the way.
7. Install the base unit over the mounting bracket on the wall. At this point, I was having a come-to-Jesus moment. The fixture is so good looking.
8. The metal channel that hides the cord also has a mounting bracket. Place the channel mounting bracket behind the cord so that it touches the base unit. Use your level or plumb bob or T-square to make it true vertically. Punch a hole into the wall in the middle of the SECOND opening in the channel mounting bracket. Drill a pilot hole for one of the plastic screw holders provided. Hammer in the screw holder. Use this first hole for the top hole of the channel mounting bracket and tighten the screw almost tight. Let the channel mounting bracket hang straight down. Then punch and install the middle and bottom bracket screws.
