What is minimum hang height? Is the install convertible to not use chain?

You have to use a minimum of 1 feet of chain for this fixture due to its size, so that would put the height at 45 Inches. The fixture height is 33 plus the 12 Inches of the Chain Length.

Is the chain itself 6ft long? Also can a few pieces be taken off the chain if needed on my own?

I see this light comes in two sizes. What is the best way to determine which size is right for your space. My dining table is 72" square and the room has 9' 8' wall height.
