Great features
I bought 2 of these lights to install into the top of the bookcase I was building. Great look with the antique brass and loved that the light had 2 illumination settings since I will mostly use the dimmer one. The tilt was also adjustable as well as the length.

The bulbs in mine are incandescent so it should work on a dimmer.

Is this Light cordless?
No. It's a corded, 110-120V lamp - and a very nice one. My wife uses it on a a curio/ bookcase (4 of them) and loves them.

Best light bulb to use in a picture frame light that won’t show a bright spot on art piece?
I use 2/ 25w incandescent bulbs. The light spots can be diminished by bending the lamp arm up & out so that the light isn't directly hitting the canvas, print etc. but is shooting straight down.

How high up is switch located? Picture is over small heavy chest so I need to be able to reach switch.
There is no switch on mine. You can wire it with an inline switch to whatever height you choose. We have four lamps on front of 7 ft. high bookcase, all wired together to a switch located a rear of lower shelf behind a stack of books.

Does the head of the light come apart from the post in order to install at the top of a bookcase apron?
It's been several years now; but I'm sure that I drilled holes just under crown molding the size of the stem and pulled wiring and stem through the holes.The stem is in two pieces, so you just remove stem bracket before and reattach upon completion. My bride loves it! Good Luck

Can this fixture be hardwired?
Yes. I bought two for a built in bookcase that already had a light on a switch and my husband hirdwired the two lights so they would work on the switch.
