Love this lantern!
This is one of my favorite fixtures. It is great looking. I have used it in different finishes and different sizes in every house I've done this year. It's gone in stairways, foyers, dining my rooms, mudroom and over kitchen islands. By the way, it is good in high places because you don't have to worry about cleaning any glass.

Good looking light
I'm really pleased with this lantern. It's a little less good than I thought it would be, but it's still a nice color and doesn't bother me, especially when the light is on. You can't beat this for the price.

Love these lights. I have the small one in my entry, the large in my dining room, and the medium at my kitchen table. They make an interesting pattern on the ceiling, lots of light or ambient with dimmers. Contemporary but go nicely with my English and Oriental antiques, and eclectic style. Similar lights that I liked were 4-10 times more expensive and I'm happy with my less expensive choice.

Not gold at all
These lights are not gold at all and more of a vintage silver. They do not look as advertised and the customer service to return them has been poor. Don't order if you want gold.

Beautiful fixture
We replaced a popular style dining room fixture with seeded glass & Edison bulbs with this new style. What a wonderful change. The chandelier bulbs (GE soft white) are so much better with SW Network Gray walls than the amber-colored Edison bulbs. This fixture has is a very pretty soft gold finish. No glass to clean!

My island is 81 inches x 37 inches. Kitchen has 8' ceilings. Would two 16" lanterns be too much for this space?

Is the "canopy" the same as the backplate? If not, what is the dimension of the backplate?
The canopy is 6"x6" square and about 1/2" deep (same for all sizes of this pendant). It is not the backplate. The finish matches the pendant. :)

Will the lantern work with a low ceiling (approx. 8’) over my 72” x 36” kitchen/dining room table?
I have it with 9’ ceilings over a smaller table than yours. With lighting I always err on the larger size so I think it will be fine.
