Due to it's size, 23 1/4" from wall and 16 3/16" round, it should be installed outdoors but I have one issue with that. Aluminum wiring. Although, there is nothing wrong with aluminum wiring it does oxidize faster. When it does oxidize, it will prevent electrical connection causing it to over heat and create a possible fire hazard. Solution to fix the oxidation would be apply anti oxidizer. another item to buy. Electricians should do it, but unless you watch them who knows. another negative with aluminum wiring is when electricity flows through wire, the wire heats up. Aluminum wire expands more than copper when it heats up. The repeated expansion and contraction as the wire heats up and cools down causes the wire to creep out from under the terminal screws that holds the wire in place. This wire creeping results in loose connections and overheating. Ultimately, for outdoor locations use copper wiring. Pros: easy to install, nice finish, looks good, Cons: Aluminum wiring, have to buy additional stuff to install properly, BIG - outdoor or big room
