Junior Bunk Bed
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Mid-Century Modern Solid Wood Twin over Twin Bunk Bed stands about 4-feet tall assembled and is the perfect height for younger kids. The quality is just exceptional and each piece was perfectly smooth and finished, with rounded edges -- a nice and unexpected touch. The bed is very solid once assembled and it goes together pretty easily. No amount of climbing or moving around causes the bed to shake, it's really sturdy. I absolutely love that the bottom mattress is basically floor-height and there's a board that goes all the way around the bottom, so nothing can get under the bed. Clearly that was designed by a parent! The color in the manufacturer photos isn't super accurate. The bed is less orange and more of a medium brown -- very nice and easily matches other furniture. It fits regular mattresses, though I think the instructions do mention a 6-inch maximum thickness is recommended. Overall, I'm just really impressed by the quality of this bunk bed and my twins adore it.
My only "tip" would be to really pay attention to step 5 where there's a picture of a hand pointing at a couple holes on the front boards. Those holes are for the ladder and if you put them on the wrong side (very, very easy to do), you'll have to disassemble the bed and flip it around. So pay close attention during that step and everything should turn out fine. I assembled the bed with the help of my 10 year old. Between the two of us we didn't have any problems, the only extra tool we needed was a cordless drill to screw down the bed slats. You could do it by hand, but there's something like 26 screws for each bed, so that would take a while!
