Polywood Outdoor Furniture

POLYWOOD – Timeless Outdoor Furniture

POLYWOOD is the originator of the recycled outdoor furnishings category, pioneering the recycled adirondack in 1990. Not only did they create the category, they’ve had over 26 years to refine the designs, processes, and stand by their 20-year product warranty. They’re unique in that our entire manufacturing process has remained in-house, which allows them to create consistent, high-quality products. All POLYWOOD Furniture is made-to-order in the USA and assembled, packaged, and shipped to customers doorsteps, with 99.9% accuracy, within days of receiving an order.
Sustainability

POLYWOOD lumber is created from a proprietary blend of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) plastics (think milk jugs and detergent bottles) which is one of the easiest plastics to recycle (and can be recycled again and again). This allows them to recycle over 99% of our post-industrial material back into the manufacturing line. Any aluminum they use is also forever recyclable, even the sewing department recycles all of fabric scraps through the “Recycle My Sunbrella” program.

Fun Facts:

  • It takes roughly 500 milk jugs to create the lumber for one Classic Adirondack Chairs.
  • POLYWOOD produces a piece of furniture every 28 seconds.
  • Waste stream is over 99% recycled and includes: plastic bottles, glass, cardboard, shrink wrap, fasteners, fabric, resin, aluminum, paper, pallets and the plastic lumber scrap from production lines.
  • What’s New

There is always something exciting happening at POLYWOOD! Most recently, they’ve celebrated the grand opening of new manufacturing and shipping facility. They’re also in the process of  building a recycling line where they take recycled milk jugs and other HDPE plastics to be cleaned and processed in building 2, extrude lumber with that material in building 1, and assemble/ship furniture out of building 5. And while they’ve always extruded their own lumber, they’ve never created own “regrind”, small recycled plastic pieces, before. Along with the new recycling line, they’re launching  a school program with local schools where students collect milk jugs to earn their school a POLYWOOD Bench! The goal is to build a recycling line with school tours in mind, allowing students to tour their facilities after they meet their goal.

As they continue to grow, POLYWOOD is proud to maintain this founding principle. Not only does it keep and create jobs right here in the midwest, it allows to ship products quickly to customers’ doorsteps.
