Can this be hung in a bathroom?

Aesthetically, I think it would need to be a large bathroom, not a narrow one. Mechanically, I don't see any problem.

What doe "some assembly" entail?

The capize shell are attached to strings/wires and vary by length. You have to attach them to the three metal circles that enclose the lights/

One of the answers states that it also comes with a chain. How long is the chain that it comes with?

This fixture does not come with chain but, it comes supplied with stems : one (1) 6 -inch, one (1) 12 -inch, one (1) 18 -inch.

Would two of the 251 First Cadiz pendants be enough lighting over a 9 ft island?  Picture makes light seem more diffused and soft.  Thanks!

We changed the bulbs to halogen. They are pretty bright and not hot. The fixture is big, though.

this is a TRUE flush mount, correct? it does not require a plug in cord to be strung from the ceiling to an outlet, is that correct? (sorry, reason I'm asking is that I just purchased one, and it could not be mounted without the cord & plugged into outlet

The Capiz Shell pendant comes supplied with 6", 12" and 18" -inch downrods and also a chain. You can use the few chain links to hang it close to the ceiling. The power source of the pendant is hardwire.

I'm confused. The description at the top is 52 in high, and the spec are 15H. What is it from top chrome rim to bottom hanging shell? Why do some answers say 52 in, even with the rods it can't be that long, at most I calculate 33 in.

If you only use one rod- it is about 34" from the top of the ceiling to the lowest shells
