What is the metal material?

What are the dimensions of the back plate including the depth? Also, is this fixture closed at the bottom? How do you change the light bulbs in this fixture?
The backplate measure 11" H x 7.5" W. The fixture is closed at the bottom. There are two screws that will allow the front of the fixture to be removed for changing the bulbs.
