Are the blades clear?  Can the fan be hardwired to my existing switches for fan and light and still use the remote control?

Yes, the blades that come on model #BRD52PLN3 are clear acrylic. It comes included with a wall control; however, it is able to use your existing wall control if it locks into each position (high, medium, low). It cannot use a full range dimmer type control for the fan, only the light portion of the switch. If you order the remote control system #UCI-2000, it cannot use your existing wall control. You would need to use the wall control compatible with the handheld remote. Order #UCI-2000-2 (to include wall and handheld).
