Can this be used on a covered porch?

This 56-Inch Three-Light Ceiling Fan is recommended to use in interior dry locations. The dry location is an indoor area that is not normally subject to dampness which includes kitchens, living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, foyers, hallways and most areas in bathrooms. However, direct contact with moisture and water should be avoided.

Since this fan is a DC motor instead of AC do you need to do anything special when wiring it?

Sophisticated DC Motor requires automatic 7 minute calibration period upon installation. The remote and wall controls are inoperable during that time, after which the fan, remote control and wall control (if applicable) with be fully operational.

Does this come without a light kit? I like the look but do not want lights in it Thank you

I don't think so. I bought two and love them. Lights definitely look better in a smaller room though because the kit is small even though it puts out more light than a typical kit (uses 4 bulbs).

Can a longer downrod be added to this fan?

I am not the one who actually installed the fan so I would not know if you can or cannot add a longer down rod to it, but you definitely need at least 9" ceilings to give room for height as is from package. The fan is beautiful.
