Is the mesh shade removable? Can the sconce be used without the outer shade? Do you have any pictures of the sconce without the outer shade?

It is removable and I prefer the look without the shade. It looks like mercury glass. I'm at work and just scrolled through my phone and don't have a pic. Our sconces are on a dimmer which I love.

If we used a 100 watt bulb and had a pair of these sconces flanking a bathroom mirror,  would they throw enough light or is this sconce more 'mood' lighting?

This Light will provide 800 Lumens. If you have used pair of these sconces with 100 watt bulbs, then it throws enough light. However, the lighting effect depends upon the room size and the wall color.
