is the bar that runs north/south in the front or back?  also, how far apart are the shelves...how many inches are there from each shelf.  I want to make sure my tall stuff can fit.  thanks

The cross bar is attached to the back portion of the unit. The bookcase features 10 fixed shelves and the shelf dimensions are approximately 14.63" H x 25.5" W x 15" D -inch.
