Beautiful Fan
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Upon opening the box I realized the fan was packaged extremely well taking extreme care not to damage the nickel finish. You have a choice to install the blades with either the dark walnut wood grain showing or a silver nickel finish showing. I would have preferred to have a dark wood finish on one side and a light wood grain finish on the other. The silver nickel finish on the one side of the blades in my opinion takes away from the fan's beauty by cheapening the look, so I decided to install the blades with the dark walnut finish visible. The fan's instructions were all easy to follow and are very typical for this type of fan. The only problem I encountered while installing the fan was with the down rod. I installed the fan in a room with ten foot ceilings requiring an eighteen inch down rod. I found out this fan only accepts down rods made by Kichler because the rods need to be threaded on both ends in order to work. Standard down rods are typically only threaded on one end. I decided to install the fan with a remote control instead of using the pull chains. I purchased the remote separately from Kichler and it fit inside the fan's canopy without a problem. Most other aftermarket fan controllers would also be able to fit given the large space. After completing the installation I was extremely happy with the looks and function of the fan. It is extremely quiet and produces a large amount of air movement. I did not have to use the blade balancing kit because it operated flawlessly upon initial installation. I am not overly impressed with the fans light output. I would have preferred an LED bulb over the yellowish incandescent bulb but is functional none the less. Overall the Starkk ceiling fan is very beautiful and adds a sense of elegance to the room and functions very well.
