Loud Humming Noise
I love the sleek look of the fan, but the minute we turned it on after installation the loud hum was something I couldn't live with. I was going to take it right back down but since we didn't yet have the wall control installed, it was on high speed. We decided to wait until the wall control was installed to see what it sounded like then. Also, the instructions tell you to wait 24 hours after install and a lot of the random noise will go away.
After one week we have found that on the very lowest speed there is no hum but also no real air flow. The next speed up gives a nice air flow but there is still a faint hum which I can somewhat tune out since I have tinnitus which is louder than the hum most of the time. The only reason that I am keeping the fan is that I won't use it on high speed or the next one down in this room anyway. If you will want to use this on one of the 2 higher speeds, I doubt you will be able to tolerate the humming noise. After a couple of minutes it is torturous. I've had several cheaper fans that operate with no noise so we'll find something else for the other rooms in our new place. I had hoped to put this one in the other rooms as well for consistency, but unfortunately we won't be doing that. So overall - disappointed. Not what I expected from a MinkeAire product.
