Rated 4 out of 5 by longswimmer from Good task lamp for small spaces I bought this several weeks ago. It was easy to quickly put together and get it placed and working. The lamp top is smaller than I thought it would be and only casts enough light for the task you're working on (reading, knitting, etc). But don't expect much range from this small light. I am keeping it because it fits with my decor and I needed the lamp base to be small and fit under a small chair in a small corner. That said, It's height at max is about 5 feet, so keep that in mind. Also, initially I thought it had been welded/formed with a bit of a "lean" to it where it arcs to hold the lamp and I didn't like that at first. But I see now that it had to be designed that way to keep the light focused on task and not shining uncomfortably on your face. This worked for me, but it has to be placed just right for proper casting of light. I thought it a bit expensive for such a small light, but it is brass. Recommend you buy it when there's a sale on.
