It looks realistic from a far but very fake the closer you get. It’s a simple alternative and much easier to do. But I don’t believe it has the same effect.

We needed the two of us to manage every piece (36”) and it took us a full day to hang to hallways with 3 angle turns. We added a chair rail as well. So far, everyone thinks its real bead board.
